Opening: Senior Consultant, NDIS Specialist


The NDIS is seriously complex, so we have broken it down into discrete areas, each requiring Subject Matter Specialists (SMS). See What We Do for details of our current Subject Matter Specialist areas.  

Specialists know the detail of their area, relish the challenge of staying up to date in a rapidly changing environment, understand the specific challenges and develop the right tools to assist organisations to meet the challenges of the NDIS. 

Due to rapid and ongoing growth, we are currently seeking NDIS specialists in the following areas:

  • Quality & Safeguards
  • Business Transition to NDIS
  • Learning and Development
  • Mental Health
  • Allied Health
  • Employment
  • Health
  • Finance
  • Working with people from CALD backgrounds

As an associate/sub-contractor, you will be contracted on a fee-for service basis, working on a variety of consulting projects. Consulting work is allocated on a project basis according to Consultant interest, expertise and location. Project size is very varied (anywhere from a half day to multiple weeks) and no minimum amount of work is guaranteed. Project work is likely to be part time until you establish yourself as an expert in your area. Projects can be anywhere around Australia, with travel time and costs billable.

High performing consultants may progress quickly to lead consulting teams on projects.


About You

You are a very experienced operator, and you have well developed consulting skills (from internal and/or external consulting roles). You have strong business acumen, project design and project management expertise, and excellent client relationship management skills. You are a strategic thinker accustomed to providing advice at executive levels and in the context of whole of business.

You have a very strong ability to write for impact, readability and rapid understanding. You have excellent team leadership skills and enjoy mentoring others.

You are a subject matter specialist in at least one area outlined above.

Ideally some of your experience is in the disability, mental health or community sector. Lived experience of disability will be highly regarded.

You have a passion for working collaboratively and at the leading edge of practice. You love freedom and are seeking more flexibility and new challenges.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Client engagement: liaison, meetings, collaboration, presentations
  • Consulting: co-design and delivery of offerings
  • Undertake rigorous analysis of findings and develop comprehensive and clear conclusions and recommendations
  • Prepare consulting reports and present findings to clients
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and potential clients
  • Work closely with DSC Principals and team for project design, business improvement and shared learning
  • Lead consulting project teams and mentor junior consultants
  • Develop thought leadership material to position DSC's capabilities and consultancy expertise.
